This exciting and interactive multi-week course designed to guide young musicians through the fascinating world of music composition using the powerful tool, Musescore. This class is perfect for budding composers, music enthusiasts, and anyone eager to learn how to translate their musical ideas into beautifully notated scores.

Class Overview: Over the course of 8 weeks, students will delve into the fundamentals of music notation and composition using Musescore, a free and accessible music software. Each week, we will build on our knowledge, exploring different aspects of creating music, from basic notation to more complex arrangements.

By the end of the course, students will have the skills and confidence to compose their own pieces of music and share them with others.

Class Structure: Each class session will be a blend of live demonstrations, interactive exercises, and collaborative projects. We will begin with a short lecture or demonstration, followed by hands-on practice where students will work on their compositions.

About the Classes

Class Offerings

Ukulele: (group or private) Fun and easy to learn, perfect for beginners.
Piano: (group or private) From classical to contemporary, develop your piano skills.
Composition: (group or private) Learn to create your own music.
Voice: (group or private) Improve your vocal technique and performance skills.

Class Information

All classes are taught in English using the musical numbers American system of music theory teaching.
All classes take place at Espaco Cultura in Campinas, Brazil. We can arrange to pick up students at EAC and walk across the street to the studio. Parents are responsible for picking up the student at Espacio Cultura at the end of music class.
Students must have their own instrument to practice on at home.
Composition students will need to bring their laptops to class.
Ukulele students will need to bring their Ukulele to class.

Class Frequency

Class Frequency: ONE CLASS PER WEEK
Tuition Payment Options: Flat tuition rate for the semester, Monthly rates, or one Class drop in rates. Payments due at the beginning of the month for semester and monthly rates. Drop in payments made on day of class.

Make Up Classes offered: If you need to cancel a lesson or If an emergency comes up and I need to cancel lessons, make up class options will be posted on our whatsapp group for options.

Welcome to The English Music Academy! My name is Jennifer Licko, and I am thrilled to share my passion for music with you. As a professional musician, I have recorded eight full albums and had the honor of performing at schools, theaters, and festivals around the world, including Europe, South America, and the United States. In 2014, I was delighted to win the Celtic Album of the Year award.

Music has always been an integral part of my life. Growing up as the daughter of a school music teacher, I was immersed in the world of music from a young age. I pursued my love for music by earning a degree in Music Education from East Carolina University, which laid the foundation for my teaching career.

Beyond my professional achievements, I am a proud mother of two boys and a pet lover with a dog and a cat. When I'm not making music, you can find me enjoying yoga and hiking, which help me stay balanced and inspired.

My teaching philosophy centers on understanding and nurturing each child's unique way of learning. Whether a student has a natural talent for playing by ear, a love for mathematics, or a passion for creativity and movement, I tailor my lessons to connect with their individual strengths. I believe in enhancing their innate abilities and guiding them to discover the joy of music in a way that resonates with them.
